KINS Faculty Placed Among The Top 10 Women Achievers in Puducherry 2025

Dr. Sivasankari Varadharasu, Associate Professor-cum-Head of the Department of Mental Health Nursing, from Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences (KINS) was recently named among the Top 10 Women Achievers in Puducherry 2025, reinforcing KIIT’s legacy as a leading centre for higher education in India.

The Indian Yoga Association, Puducherry Chapter; the Society of Midwives India (SOMI) Puducherry Chapter; and the Institute of Salutogenesis and Complementary Medicine at Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth (SBV), Puducherry, organized the award ceremony, held on March 27, 2025. The award was presented by the Hon’ble Speaker of the Puducherry Legislative Assembly, Prof. Embalam R. Selvam, in recognition of exceptional contributions to Healthcare, Nursing Education, and Community Service.

This honour reflects the transformative environment cultivated at KIIT under the leadership of its visionary Founder, Prof. Achyuta Samanta. With a mission rooted in social upliftment, inclusive education, and global standards, Dr. Samanta has been instrumental in creating institutions that produce socially responsible and professionally outstanding individuals. His commitment to empowering women and supporting health sciences education continues to yield national recognition.

KINS, a premier constituent of KIIT, has earned distinction for its rigorous academic training, compassionate values, and focus on mental and public health. The faculty member’s achievement is not only a personal milestone but also a tribute to the values and vision embedded in KIIT’s educational philosophy.

The recipient also credited her success to the mentorship and guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Premila Thamizhvana, Principal of the College of Nursing, Indira Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute, Puducherry. A Guinness World Record holder, WHO Research Fellow, and Nightingale Awardee, Dr. Premila has been a constant source of inspiration and support, exemplifying the power of academic sisterhood and collaboration.

Principal of KINS Prof. Niyati Das, and Vice Principal Prof. Kalyani Rath, expressed their pride in this achievement, stating, “This honour is a reflection of the high standard of professionalism and service we uphold at KINS,  and we are grateful to Prof. Samanta for creating such a nurturing academic ecosystem.”
