Dr. Avarna Agarwal, second year DM student from the Department of Rheumatology, won the first prize  presenting a poster showcasing the work of using AI based LLM (Large Language Models) in the screening for Rheumatoid arthritis. This was a joint venture between the Departments of Rheumatology, KIMS and the School of Computer Engineering, KIIT, spearheaded by Dr. Sakir Ahmed and Dr. Murari Mandal respectively.

This achievement highlights KIIT University’s exceptional ability to synthesize complex research at cross-fields. This work, which effectively bridges the gap between clinical rheumatology and Artificial intelligence, demonstrates a promising advancement in early rheumatoid arthritis screening, marking a significant contribution to the field.

Dr. Sakir Ahmed, Associate Professor of Rheumatology, also had an invited talk at the conference on how to diagnose and deal with small vessel vasculitis, which was received exceptionally well with the audience.

Dignitaries from KIMS, who were invited as chairpersons included Vice Principal Prof. Lalatendu Mohanty and Associate Dean Research Prof. Subhransu Patro. Immediate past Principal and Dean, Emeritus Prof. Ambika Mohanty also took active part in the discussions.
