KIMS Doctor Bags Best Faculty Award

Dr. C. Mohan Rao, Dept. of Pulmonary Medicine, KIMS has been awarded Best Faculty Award at the International Scientist Awards on Engineering, Science and Medicine organized by VD GOOD Professional Association.

Dr. Rao, a MKCG Medical College and Hospital MBBS pass out in 1978 and SCB Medical College and Hospital MD pass out in 1989, has been at the forefront of fostering medical education during his long association with I.G.H Rourkela. He created and nurtured a galaxy of pulmonary physicians in DNB at I.G.H Rourkela. As the former President of IMA Rourkela (in 2013-14) and Life Member of API, Rourkela, he was an anchor in Rourkela Steel Television Health File programme for dissemination of medical knowledge among the doctors. He addressed the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Direct Observed Short Course Chemotherapy in 1998 at New Delhi as a part of the delegation. He has undergone advanced training on Intervention Pulmonology in CMC Vellore in 2013 and brought Clinical Application of Medical Thoracoscope in Odisha state in 2013 onwards among pulmonary physicians. Besides, he has undergone leadership training in Management Training Institute, Ranchi.

Following superannuation in 2015, he joined as Associate Professor in Hi-Tech Medical College Hospital Rourkela, and subsequently the academic ambience in KIMS, Bhubaneswar attracted where he joined in February 2017. He has not looked back since then, and in the course of time, he has published 15 papers in different journals. The notable among those are his paper in the British Journal of Nutrition; and on COVID in Critical Care topic in the Journal of Association of Physicians of India in 2021. It was in coalition with Regional Medical Research Centre, Bhubaneswar. An ardent promoter of medical knowledge dissemination, he has been a peer reviewer of the Journal of Pharmaceutical Research.
