KIIT University’s Swasti Singh Wins Silver in Scratch Race at All India Inter University Track Cycling Championship 2024-25
KIIT University witnessed a historic sporting milestone as the All India Inter University Track Cycling Championship 2024-25 concluded on March 13, 2025, at the newly inaugurated Minati Mahapatra Velodrome at KIIT Deemed to be University. The championship, which featured five days of intense competition, saw participation from over 400 athletes representing 41 universities across India.
Swasti Singh Shines with Silver for KIIT University
The final day of the championship saw a remarkable performance by Swasti Singh of KIIT University, who showcased extraordinary skill and perseverance to clinch the silver medal in the Scratch Race Women category. Her incredible achievement not only brought pride to KIIT University but also served as an inspiration for aspiring young cyclists across the nation.
Odisha’s First-Ever Track Cycling Championship
This championship marked Odisha’s debut in track cycling events, solidifying the state’s commitment to fostering excellence in sports. The KIIT Cycling velodrome, India’s newest track cycling facility, provided a world-class platform for the athletes. The high-speed sprints and strategic brilliance displayed by the cyclists throughout the competition made it one of the most thrilling sporting events of the year.
A Grand Closing Ceremony Celebrating Champions
The closing ceremony on March 13 was graced by Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Saranjit Singh, Vice Chancellor, KIIT University, along with Mrs. Minati Mahapatra, Odisha’s first Arjuna Awardee for Cycling and President of the Odisha Cycling Association, Prof. (Dr.) Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar, KIIT University, Mr. Anil Kumar, AIU Observer, and Mr. Prasanna Rout, General Secretary, Odisha Cycling Association. Their presence motivated the athletes and celebrated their incredible achievements.
