KIIT University Shines Again: Four Students Selected to Represent India at World University Games 2025 in Germany

Carrying forward its legacy of sporting excellence, KIIT – Deemed to be University has added yet another feather to its cap. Four of its outstanding student-athletes have been selected to represent India at the FISU World University Games 2025, scheduled to be held in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany, from July 16–27, 2025.

In a proud moment for the university, Kabir Hans and Atharva Sharma have been named in the Indian University Lawn Tennis (Men) Team, while Ananya Singh and Gamit Minal have earned their place in the Indian University Volleyball (Women) Team. These selections mark a significant achievement not only for the athletes but also for KIIT’s holistic approach to nurturing sports talent.

The announcement comes amid the vibrant energy at the KIIT Multipurpose Indoor Stadium, where the National University Selection Trials for Women’s Volleyball are being conducted. Simultaneously, the Lawn Tennis Selection Trials for both Men and Women were successfully held at the Leander Paes Tennis Court in KIIT Campus 8. These trials are being held in preparation for the prestigious 2025 FISU World University Games, scheduled to take place from July 16–27, 2025, in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany.

Entrusted by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), KIIT – Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar, has taken on the responsibility of hosting these national-level trials from April 9th to 11th. Over 70 talented Volleyball players and 56 Lawn Tennis players, including several national and international stars, have gathered from across the country with hopes of representing India on the world stage.

As part of a broader national initiative, KIIT will also host Athletics and Badminton Selection Trials later this month. The university had earlier conducted successful Archery Selection Trials in March, during which one student from KIIT University was selected for the India University Archery Team.

Following the selections, a one-month intensive coaching camp will be organized at KIIT to prepare the chosen athletes for the World University Games.

Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT & KISS, expressed immense pride in the achievements of the students, stating, “This milestone reflects KIIT’s commitment to producing world-class sportspersons. I congratulate all the selected athletes and wish them the very best for their performance at the World University Games.”

They acknowledged that it is due to his commitment to education and sports development that student-athletes at KIIT are empowered to excel at national and international platforms.
