KIIT Students Win at National level Structural Design Competition

A team of three students from the School of Civil Engineering, KIIT-DU won the 3rd Prize at a national-level structural design competition. Jyoti Sahoo, Suraj Kumar Gouda (B.Tech students), and Soham De (M.Tech student) demonstrated their exceptional skills under the guidance of Dr. Purnachandra Saha in the competition, titled “Steel Intensive Archery Academy with Hostel,” organized by INSDAG (Institute for Steel Development and Growth), Ministry of Steel, Government of India.

Over 96 teams from prestigious institutes across India, including several IITs and NITs, participated in the competition. Through two intense rounds, the team from KIIT-DU emerged as one of the finalists, earning them the opportunity to present their design alongside 13 other exceptional teams on April 28, 2023. Their efforts were acknowledged and celebrated during the award ceremony, where they received the prestigious prize from Sri P.K. Mishra, Director General, INSDAG. Other dignitaries present at the event included Shri Amit Agrawal, Chief Business Excellence & New Project, TATA Steel, Shri Sanjay Agarwal, Executive Director (Marketing), SAIL, and a distinguished panel of jury members from renowned institutions such as IITs, NITs, and experts from the steel industry.

This remarkable achievement marks the fourth time that the KIIT students have won this prestigious award under the guidance of Dr. Purnachandra Saha.
