KIIT Researchers Bag Best Paper Award at IEEE CONECCT-2022


Akshita Sah,  B.Tech. undergraduate student of KIIT Deemed to be University, under the guidance of Dr. Rajdeep Chatterjee, Associate Professor and Prof.  Mahendra Kumar Gourisaria, Assistant Professor  at  KIIT School of Computer Engineering, bagged the Best Paper Award for their paper titled “Machine Learning Approaches to Assess Mood of the News Editorial” in Track-Y: Social Implications of Technology. The paper was presented at the 8th International Conference on Electronics, Computing and Communication Technologies, IEEE CONECCT-2022 organized by IEEE Bangalore Section from July 8-10, 2022.

The team got praises and positive feedback for the paper. Social media and news channels have always been vital sources for disseminating information and raising awareness about recent occurrences. News channel networks and editorials were one of the first places where knowledge regarding Covid – 19 was widely disseminated. In this study, authors proposed a sentiment analysis model to categorize tweets by some of India’s most well-known news stations into positive and negative during the pandemic.
