Department of Community Medicine Receives Accolades at IPHACON 2024

The 68thAnnual National Conference of Indian Public Health Association (IPHACON) 2024, was held in Manali in Himachal Pradesh from March 15 to 17 where doctors from the Department of Community Medicine left an indelible mark with their presentations. The conference is the biggest and prestigious Professional Health Organization working for the cause of Public Health in India since 1956.

The theme of the conference was ‘Harnessing Digital Health Advancements: Transforming Health Care Delivery and Research’. Professor (Dr) Smrutiranjan Nayak presented an oral paper on the Topic “Blueprint in Community Medicine for Competency-Based Curriculum: Way forward”, giving an insight into the newer aspects of Medical Curriculum and Medical Education which was appreciated by the delegates and chairpersons.

Dr Priyanka Mohanty (1st-year PGT) presented an oral paper on the Topic “A study to assess breastfeeding practices among mothers of infants during febrile illness: An experience from urban slums of Bhubaneswar” under the guidance of Dr Krishna Mishra (Assistant Professor, Department of Community Medicine). Her presentation was acknowledged by all the attendees.

Dr Sumelika Das (1st-year PGT) presented a poster on the Topic “Understanding maternal perceptions towards breastfeeding during an episode of childhood illness: A cross-sectional study in urban slums of Bhubaneswar” in the conference under the guidance of Dr Krishna Mishra which was also appreciated by the judges.

The attendees extended their heartfelt gratitude to all the departmental faculties, the Dean & Principal of KIMS Brig. Prof. (Dr) Ambika Prasad Mohanty and Prof (Dr.) Sonali Kar, Professor & Hod, Dept of Community Medicine for all due permissions and encouragement.
