DANA Regional Hackathon: KIIT Student’s Project Idea Bags First Position

A project idea presented by KIIT student Sanchit Verma’s team secured the First Position at the Dana Regional Hackathon 2022 organized by Big Bloom and Dana Ventures recently. His team came out top at the prestigious international event beating competition from other teams which had representations from renowned universities like the New York University, InstitutAgronomique et Vétérinaire Hassan-II, and Azrieli College of Engineering Jerusalem.

The winning team’s project was titled “EFE- Everyone Farming Everywhere”. It will be incubated by Dr. William Sarni, Founder & CEO, Water Foundry (US) in January 2023. In another proud achievement, Sanchit Verma, who is a student of KIIT School of Computer Engineering, has been selected as the team leader and will be responsible for leading the incubation of the project along with Dr. Will. Three other students – Anshika Sodhi, Amita Banerjee, and Swastika Bishnoi – from the KIIT School of Computer Engineering participated in the event.  

Sanchit Verma and the academic mentors Dr. Manjusha Pandey and Dr. Sidharth Rautray, Associate Professors, KIIT School of Computer Engineering put in their best efforts to make KIIT proud at this international competition. Dr. Anita Pati and her team at IRO KIIT University supported the challenge participation with their best efforts. All the participants and mentors showcased high enthusiasm and timely support to the IRO team to coordinate the program.

The DANA Venture and Big Bloom congratulated the students on their participation in the challenge, and for their professional presentation and innovative design solution. The judging panel was highly impressed by the prototypes presented by all teams for the challenge, and it was great to see a wide range of design solutions proposed to solve the strategic challenge of Silal and the Abu Dhabi Environmental Agency based on Agricultural needs and Water Scarcity.
