KIMS Professor leads Artificial Intelligence Workshop for Rheumatologists

Professor (Dr.) Sakir Ahmed of KIMS conducted a workshop on the use of AI for Rheumatologists at SZIRACON 2026, Mangalore. Titled “AI for Humans: The Rheumatologist Edition”, it encompassed various aspects of AI. Starting from basic concepts of Systems sciences and linear algebra, the workshop was mostly Hands-on.

The first part dealt with generative AI and prompt engineering and verification of generated results using RAG (Retrieval augmented generation). The second part was more advanced and demonstrated (Hands-on) usage of a genetic AI and measures required setting up Large Language Models on local devices to prevent patient data being sent to the cloud. The workshop was oversubscribed and much appreciated by all participants.

This was the second national level AI workshop conducted by Dr. Sakir while he will be conducting another in Seoul, South Korea in October at the Asia-Pacific League against Rheumatology.

He expressed his thanks to the Founder, KIIT, KISS & KIMS as well as the KIIT fraternity for providing the platform for such cross-fields research and innovation that is so special at KIIT University.
