KIMS Physician Dr. Sambit Das Elected President of Endocrine Society of India
Dr. Sambit Das, Professor and Head of the Department of Endocrinology at KIMS Bhubaneswar, has been elected as the President of the Endocrine Society of India (ESI), one of the most prestigious professional bodies in the field of endocrinology in the country.
Established in 1972, the Endocrine Society of India is the largest association of endocrinologists in India. It plays a key role in advancing the discipline through academic initiatives, research collaborations, national registries, clinical guidelines and patient awareness programmes both nationally and internationally.
He is the first Odia endocrinologist to be elected President of the Society and also the youngest to hold the position in its history.
An eminent clinician, dedicated teacher and accomplished researcher, Dr. Das has made notable contributions to endocrinology. He is currently serving as the Vice President of ESI and is also an Executive Committee Member of the South Asian Federation of Endocrine Societies (SAFES).
Over the years, he has received several national and international accolades for his work. Recently, he was honoured with the Excellence in Endocrinology and Diabetes Award by the Chief Minister of Odisha.
Congratulating Dr. Das on his achievement, Founder of KIIT and KISS, Dr. Achyuta Samanta, expressed pride over his accomplishment and said his election to the prestigious post is a matter of great honour for the institution as well as the state of Odisha.
