The Centre of Innovation Research (COIR), KIIT, organized an invited lecture on “Nuclear Energy: Emerging Demand and Opportunities” under the prestigious HORIZON Lecture Series. The session featured Dr. Kundan Das, Founder of 4.0 Smart Industry Advisory Services Ltd. and a distinguished expert in Nuclear Energy and Energy Transition, who delivered an insightful talk as Professor of Practice at COIR in the domain of Nuclear Energy.

During the interaction, Dr. Kundan highlighted that AI represents a remarkable technological leap with immense potential to benefit humanity, yet it arrives at a challenging moment where its rapid growth is deeply energy-intensive. He emphasized that as electricity demand rises globally, the real challenge lies not just in building more servers, but in finding sustainable energy and infrastructure to support them.

The session also witnessed an engaging interaction by Mr. Prasad Routray, Co-founder of ZYVKA, with the participating faculty members, adding valuable industry perspectives to the discussion. The lecture drew participation from more than 20 faculty members engaged in related research domains from across the University, reflecting the strong interdisciplinary interest in the subject.

The sessions were conducted under the continued support of Dr. Sutanu Mangal, Head, COIRs, and the programme was coordinated by Dr. Amlana Panda, Assistant Registrar (RDI).
