Hostel Sports Events 2025 – Cricket Tournament for the 1st year students were successfully organized at KP-7(B) Block playground from 12th Dec to 17th Dec 2025, showcasing competitive spirit, discipline, and sportsmanship among hostel students.
The tournament featured 12 teams—Super Strikers, Elite Eagles, Boundary Bashers, Raging Bulls, Vendetta, Shadow Knights, Havoc Hunters, Sixer Super King, The Invincible, Young Star 11, Vikings, and The Dominators—and comprised 19 thrilling matches conducted over a week with great enthusiasm and fair play.
All league matches, quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the final were professionally managed and scored using the CricHeroes App, ensuring transparency and accurate performance analysis & with the support of the Sports Department. The event stood as a strong example of teamwork, discipline, fair competition, and promotion of a sporting culture within the hostel community.
The Grand Final was held on 17th December 2025 at the KP-7(B) Block playground. Played over 15 overs’, the final match saw VIKINGS winning the toss and opting to bat against THE INVINCIBLES. Delivering an extraordinary performance, VIKINGS emerged victorious by 205 runs, marking a memorable conclusion to the tournament.
The organizing team expresses its heartfelt respect and sincere gratitude to Prof. (Dr.) Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT, KISS & KIMS, for his visionary leadership, continuous encouragement, and all-round support to hostel students, which continue to inspire the organization of such meaningful and value-driven sporting initiatives.
The organizing team also expressed its earnest respect and sincere gratitude to Prof. Saranjit Singh, Vice Chancellor, KIIT-DU, for his continuous encouragement and all-round support for the sports event.
The tournament was planned and executed under the able leadership of Mr. Snehasish Rout, Director, General Administration & Hostel Affairs. The team members expressed their warm appreciation for his constant guidance, motivation, and unwavering support, which played a pivotal role in the successful conduct of the tournament.
The tournament was coordinated by the Sports Department, and assisted by Mr. Siba Padarbinda Behera, Technical Assistant, School of Aerospace Engineering; Mr. Anjan Kumar Maity, Asst. Student Relation Officer; and Mr. Satyajit Das, Asst. Administrative Officer.
The Closing ceremony was held on 17th December 2025 and it was graciously attended by Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty (Registrar, KIIT-DU); Dr. Samaresh Mishra, (Director, Student Services, KIIT-DU); Dr. Shyam Sundar Behura (Additional Registrar, Student Affairs & Alumni, KIIT-DU); Prof. P.K. Patra (Warden, Boys Hostel); Prof. Kajal Parashar (Warden, Girls Hostel); Dr. Mrutyunjay Das (Senior Superintendent & Associate Dean); Mr. T.K. Pati, (Sr. Administrative Officer), and other Superintendents and staff of hostel administration, whose presence added prestige and encouragement to the occasion.
A word of encouragement and appreciation was delivered by Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar, KIIT-DU. He also presented the trophies, medals, certificates of position, and prizes to the Runners-up and Winning teams.
As a mark of encouragement and recognition, all quarter-finalist players were also awarded medals & certificates of participation, adding to the excitement and motivation of the participants.
Individual excellence was recognized with the following awards- Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Best Fielder, Man of the Match,& Most Valuable Player.
