KIIT Faculty Joins International Conference in Bangkok and Explores Academic and Research Collaboration
Dr. Manas Ranjan Behera, Associate Professor at the KIIT School of Public Health (KSPH), attended the ‘Prince Mahidol Award Conference (PMAC)’ from 28th January-02nd February 2025 at Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre at Central World in Bangkok, Thailand.
PMAC is one of the biggest global health conference in entire South-East Asia region which was jointly co-hosted by The Prince Mahidol Award Foundation, the World Health Organization, The World Bank, the United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations Children’s Fund, the United Nations Population Fund, the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS, The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, the United States Agency for International Development, the Japan International Cooperation Agency, the China Medical Board, The Rockefeller Foundation, Chatham House, the National University of Singapore, The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, FHI 360, the University of Gothenburg, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the International Federation of Medical Students Associations. This year the conference theme was ‘Harnessing Technologies in an Age of AI to Build a Healthier World’.
Dr. Behera presented his research paper titled ‘Bottlenecks of Leveraging Artificial Intelligence for Equitable Access in Rural Healthcare Settings of Low and Middle-income Countries’ in the conference. He presented KIIT in two universities, i.e., Mahidol University, Faculty of Public Health (MUPH) and Thammassat University, Faculty of Public Health (TUPH) in his lecture to foster academic and research collaboration.
During his visit, Dr. Behera initiated discussions on potential academic and research collaborations with the university. Dr. Behera also took the opportunity to highlight the significant initiatives already undertaken by KIIT, KISS, and KIMS. Prof. Orwan Kaewboonchoo, Dean for International Relations and their team at MUPH expressed great enthusiasm about hosting KSPH students to MUPH through student exchange program and to join the upcoming international conference at MUPH in August 2025. KSPH, KIIT DU has already signed a MoU with MUPH. Prof. Marc Ven der Putten and Prof. Katiya Ivanovitch, Dean for Administration and International Health from TUPH has expressed their great enthusiasm for future collaborations.
The university authorities of both MUPH and TUPH were deeply impressed by the work and significant achievements made by the Founder, Dr. Achyuta Samanta, and his visionary efforts putting the KIIT Group of Institutions at Global Platform at high esteem. They were mainly impressed by the recent Harvard-MIT India track exchange program hosted by the KIIT University and also by the impressive number of Olympians produced by KIIT and KISS, further highlighting the bond and excitement for future collaborations.
