Youth Red Cross KIIT Organizes State-Level Study-Cum-Training Camp

The Youth Red Cross KIIT Unit organized a three-day State-Level Study-Cum-Training Camp from 28th to 30th January 2025 in association with the Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State Branch (IRCS, OSB). The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Mukesh Mahaling, Hon’ble Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Parliamentary Affairs, and Electronics & IT, Government of Odisha, and Chairman, State Working Committee, IRCS, OSB, in the presence of Mr. Ramesh Chandra Behera, Youth Red Cross Officer, IRCS, OSB. Dr. Mahaling emphasized the importance of youth participation in humanitarian efforts.

The valedictory session was graced by Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT, KIMS & KISS, and Mr. Dharanidhar Nanda, Additional Secretary to the Higher Education Department, Government of Odisha. Other dignitaries addressing the trainees included Prof. Saranjit Singh, Vice Chancellor, KIIT-DU; Prof. Debashis Bandyopadhyay, Pro-Vice Chancellor; Prof. J. R. Mohanty, Registrar; and Prof. Chitralekha Jena, Associate Professor, School of Electrical Engineering, and YRC Counselor, KIIT-DU.

This training camp brought together approximately 410 volunteers from 240 colleges across all 30 districts of Odisha. Nearly 80 counselors, district coordinators, and convenors participated in the camp, which focused on Disaster Management, Blood Donation Awareness, HIV/AIDS Awareness, First Aid, Leadership and Spiritualism, Volunteerism, and CPR Training. Over the three-day program, 15 learning sessions were conducted by eminent speakers from across the state.

The program was coordinated by YRC KIIT Counselors Dr. Ajit Kumar Pasayat, Dr. Junali Jasmine Jena, Dr. Ramesh Chandra Sethi, and Dr. Chitralekha Jena.
