The Youth Red Cross (YRC), KIIT organized its Third Annual First Aid Training Camp on 8th December, 2024. The workshop featured Sri Laxman Swain, Junior Red Cross Officer, Indian Red Cross Society, as the chief instructor and guest.
The event was conducted under the guidance of YRC counsellors. Sri Swain led an engaging and interactive session, introducing volunteers to various emergency scenarios and equipping them with essential first-aid skills. He trained the participants on administering first aid in different situations, including CPR techniques, assisting unconscious victims, and providing psychological first aid to stroke patients. He also raised awareness about handling cases such as bleeding, bee stings, dog bites, snake bites, bone fractures, external and internal bleeding, along with the appropriate first-aid methods. Additionally, he clarified the differences between heart attacks and cardiac arrests, highlighting their symptoms.
The camp comprehensively covered practical and corrective approaches to administering first aid for scenarios that individuals may encounter in their daily lives.
The YRC, KIIT expressed gratitude to their counselors—Dr. Chitralekha Jena, Dr. Junali Jasmine Jena, Dr. Ajit Kumar Pasayat, and Dr. Ramesh Chandra Sethi—for their efforts in coordinating the event. They also extended sincere thanks to Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS, for his unwavering support and encouragement. Furthermore, the YRC appreciated the enthusiastic participation of volunteers, which contributed significantly to the event’s success.
