The Gopabandhu Das Research Chair, KISS-DU observed the 96th Death Anniversary of Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das on 6th July 2024. The function was presided over by Professor Deepak Kumar Behera, Vice Chancellor, KISS-DU.
The musical troop of KISS-DU initiated the programme by reciting the prayers of Gopabandhu Das followed by lighting of the ceremonial lamp. Professor Bijayananda Singh, Chair Professor, Gopabandhu Das Research Chair, KISS-DU introduced the theme of the seminar. While sharing insights on the life and works of Gopabandhu Das, Professor Singh said, “The heart of Gopabandhu Das was filled with sympathy and love for the downtrodden class”.
Professor Bijoy Kumar Satapathy distinguished invited Speaker of the seminar threw light on “Pragatishila Chetanara Rupakara Gopabandhu”. He expressed that throughout his life Gopabandhu Das was concerned about the total transformation and development of the society. He established ‘Bana Vidyalaya’ at Satyabadi (Sakhigopal) at par with Shantiniketan of Tagore and Nai Talim of Wardha established by Gandhi. He further added that the Founder of KIIT & KISS Professor Achyuta Samanta is deeply impressed and inspired by his vision for the development of the society.
Research Scholars Ms. Sanjulata Ho and Gopabandhu Kumara also delivered talks on Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das. Chair Professors of other Research Chairs at KISS-DU, Director General and Professors Emeriti, Faculty Members, Research Scholars, among others were also present in the seminar.
Dr. Prashanta Kumar Routray, Registrar, KISS-DU proposed a vote of thanks and the seminar was coordinated by Dr. Rasmita Tripathy, Dean, School of Comparative Tribal Languages and Literatures, KISS-DU.
