Youth Red Cross, Odisha and KIIT Host State-Level Training Camp for Counsellors

Youth Red Cross, Odisha, in collaboration with KIIT, organized a three-day State Level Training Camp for Untrained Counsellors from May 10th to 12th, 2024. More than 70 counsellors from various districts of Odisha participated in this training. The inaugural session was graced by Prof. Saranjit Singh, Vice Chancellor of KIIT-DU; Prof. J. R. Mohanty, Registrar; Prof. Samaresh Mishra, Director of Student Affairs; and Dr. Ramesh Chandra Behera, Youth Red Cross Officer, Odisha.

The training camp was enriched by valuable sessions conducted by eminent resource persons. It featured sessions on “Climate Change” by Dr. Kajal Parashar, Professor of Chemistry at KIIT-DU; “Red Cross” by Shri Gopal Krushna Mishra, State Coordinator of YRC, Odisha; “Disaster Management” by Shri Gulshan Kumar Dash, IRCS-OSB; “First Aid Training” by Shri Laxman Swain, Junior Youth Red Cross Officer; and “Fire Safety” by fire safety officials, among others.

This event marked a significant milestone in enhancing the skills and capabilities of youth counsellors across the state. The Youth Red Cross (YRC) has always played a pivotal role in fostering a culture of compassion, resilience, and service among young individuals. This endeavor has equipped the counsellors with the necessary knowledge, tools, and techniques to effectively support and guide the youth through various challenges they may encounter.

The training programme was hosted and managed by the counsellors of Youth Red Cross, KIIT-DU, Odisha: Dr. Chitralekha Jena, Assistant Professor, School of Electrical Engineering; Dr. Junali Jasmine Jena, Assistant Professor, School of Computer Engineering; Dr. Ajit Pasayat, Assistant Professor, School of Computer Engineering; and Dr. Ramesh Chandra Sethi, Assistant Professor, School of Law.
