KINS National Conference on ‘’Emerging Technologies and Challenges in Nursing Education and Practices’’

Kalinga Institute of Nursing Sciences (KINS), a constituent of KIIT Deemed-to-be-University (KIIT-DU) organised a National Conference July 8 on the theme “Emerging Technologies and Challenges in Nursing Education and Practices”.

The Inaugural session was graced by Prof. Sabita Acharya, Vice-Chancellor, Utkal University, Dr. Ramachandra Rout, Nursing Director, Government of Odisha and Prof. CBK Mohanty, Pro Vice-Chancellor, School of Medicine, KIIT-DU.

Convener of conference Prof. Niyati Das, Principal, KINS, delivered the welcome address while organising secretary Prof. Anasuya Pattanayak,HOD, Community Health Nursing, KINS gave the keynote address.  Release of a souvenir was done by the dignitaries. The session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Co-Convener Prof. Kalyani Rath, Vice-Principal, KINS.

During the first scientific session Dr.Rajini Peter, Professor and Principal, AIIMS, College of Nursing, Nagpur made a presentation on “Collaborative & Experiential learning” which was moderated by Prof. Sasmita Das Associate Dean, SUM Nursing College, SOA Deemed-to-be-University, Bhubaneswar.

During the second scientific session on “Artificial Intelligence in Transforming the Future Nursing” Dr. L. Gopichandran, Associate Professor, College of Nursing, AIIMS, New Delhi and Prof. Asokan R, in-charge, R&D and HOD, Medical Surgical Nursing, KINS moderated the session. After the lunch break, scientific papers were presented, which were evaluated by Asst. Prof. Sikandar Kumar, HOD, Psychiatric Nursing, MHI, SCBMCH, Cuttack and Dr. Pravati Tripathy, Dean, SUM Nursing College, SOA Deemed-to-be-University.

During her speech Associate Prof. Manju Dandapani of National Institute of Nursing Education, PGIMER, Chandigarh emphasized on “Application of Theory to Strengthen the Nursing Profession”under third Scientific Session. The session was moderated by Prof. Kalyani Rath, Vice-Principal, KINS.

Similarly during the fourth Scientific Session “Advocacy & Leadership in Nursing: Opportunities & Challenges” was highlighted by Dr. Nancy Fernandes Pereira, Principal, LT College of Nursing, SNDT, Women’s University, Mumbai and moderated by Prof. N. Premalata Devi, HOD OB&G Nursing,Vice-Principal, DRIEMS School and College of Nursing, Cuttack.

The valedictory session was attended by Prof. Ambika Prasad Mohanty, Principal, KIMS and Prof. Ram Chandra Das, Medical Superintendent, KIMS. Co-Organizing Secretary Prof. Asokan R presented the report of the conference. Certificates were distributed to all the participants and delegates.  Around 550 participants, consisting of nursing students, faculties from 23 different nursing colleges of Odisha, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and National Capital Region (NCR) attended. Prof. Anasuya Pattanayak proposed a vote of thanks.
