Workshop on Research Proposal Development by KIMS Dept of Microbiology

Department of Microbiology at Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) organised a two-day workshop on research project development under the aegis of Indian Association of Medical Microbiologists (IAMM), Odisha Chapter, on how to convert ideas into successful and innovative research proposals.

As research proposal development always remains a sophisticated and skillfully planned and executed task, the Phase-I of the workshop was held in KIMS on June 10 and 11 and the participants included faculty members from various specialities and medical colleges across the State.

The objectives of the workshop were to impact knowledge and skills on research proposal development for funding and to enhance the skills of the participants through review and hands-on support. It started after a formal inaugural session in presence of Dr. Suneeta Sahoo (Secretary IAMM- Odisha Chapter), Prof. Dr. Ashok Kumar Praharaj (HoD Microbiology , KIMS), Prof. Dipti Pattnaik and eminent speakers Dr. Manoj Kumar Das (Director Projects, INLCEN, New Delhi) and Dr. Archisman Mohapatra (Executive Director, GRID Council, New Delhi).

The workshop was coordinated by Prof Basanti Kumari Pathi and Prof Kumudini Panigrahi (Professors at Department of Microbiology, KIMS). The programme provided an excellent platform for attendees to exchange their experiences, insights and knowledge on different components of research methods and research proposal development.

OUTCOME:

Each participant developed a concept note as per the template given in the beginning. The concept note will be taken forward for planning full proposal development. This was followed by a brief feedback session from all the participants. The participants found the programme highly informative, inspiring and thought provoking. The workshop certificates (8 Credit Hours by Odisha Council of Medical Research) were presented to the participants by the esteemed dignitaries.
