KIMS celebrates Global Hand Hygiene Week

The Global Hand Hygiene Week celebration concluded on Friday with enthusiastic participation from all wings of the School of Medicine under KIIT-DU. The event, which took place from May 2 to May 5, was aimed at raising awareness about the importance of maintaining proper hand hygiene to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, including the COVID 19.

A series of activities were conducted to educate and inspire participants to practice good hand hygiene in their daily routines. The activities included a poster competition, role play competition, quiz competition, and a walkathon.

The poster competition saw participants showcasing their artistic skills by creating captivating posters that illustrated the significance of hand hygiene. The role play competition allowed participants to showcase their acting skills and demonstrate various scenarios where hand hygiene practices were essential. The quiz was an excellent way of engaging participants and testing their knowledge of hand hygiene.

The walkathon on Thursday started from “My Mother My Hero’’ installation near KIDS and went up to the Gandhi Square in Campus-6 and back. Director Campus Relations KIMS K.P Diwedi flagged off the event in which more than 100 participated. The Infection Control Department of KIMS coordinated the event and the participants also chanted slogans during the walkathon creating awareness among the general public. It also promoted the importance of physical activity and healthy living. The Friday’s celebration concluded with a cake cutting ceremony. The grand finale served as a fitting conclusion to a week filled with engaging activities, camaraderie, and most importantly, an unwavering commitment to promoting the culture of hand hygiene. KIMS Medical Superintendent Dr. Rama Chandra Das, Vice-Principal Dr .Shubhransu Patro, and KINS Principal Niyati Das were present during the closing event, among others.
