Two-Day Patent Workshop Held at KIIT
A two-day Patent Workshop was organised by the Bhubaneswar City Knowledge Innovation Cluster (BCKIC) foundation, an initiative by the Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, in partnership with the Science and Technology Department, Government of Odisha and in association with KIIT Deemed to be University, at KIIT-School of Biotechnology auditorium on 21st and 22nd March, 2023.
The session was designed for students, academicians, research scholars and entrepreneurs with hands-on training on Patent searching, Drafting, Filing and prosecution. The workshop started with an inaugural session. Dr. Vishakha Raina, Professor in School of Biotechnology, KIIT University welcomed the guest on the occasion and gave the gist of the aims and objectives of the workshop with the details on the lined up technical sessions.
Dr. Srinivas Patnaik, Associate Professor and Dean in School of Biotechnology, KIIT University gave the opening remark and emphasised the importance of Intellectual Property. The Chief Guest, Ms. Puja Mishra, Joint Secretary, Science and Technology Department, Government of Odisha applauded the efforts, enthusiasm and participation and also urged the participants to avail the opportunities provided to them by the Science and Technology Department, Government of Odisha. Mr. Laxminarayan Padhi, Senior Scientist at Science & Technology Department, Government of Odisha was also present in the session.
This workshop was the part of an initiative by the Science and Technology Department, Government of Odisha in collaboration with BCKIC Foundation in its mission to create awareness about Intellectual Property Rights in the state of Odisha.
Ms. Sambhabi Patnaik, Faculty, KIIT Law School; Dr. T. Pavan Kumar, Sr. Scientist, CSIR-IMMT; Mr. Aurobinda Panda, Founder and Managing Partner of LexProtector; Smrita Pathak, Assistant Manager-IP, BCKIC Foundation; and Dr. Amaresh Panda, Lead, Technology Transfer Office, KIIT-TBI were the guest speakers for the workshop, who conducted session on various aspects of Patents.
