CME on Optometry in KIMS

The Department of Ophthalmology, KIMS successfully organized a CME on Optometry “Low Vision Aid & Beyond” on 12th November 2022. It was an unique CME for Optometry conducted for the first time in KIMS, Bhubaneswar.

The Guest speakers Mr. Somanath Goswami, Lecturer from Vivekananda Mission Asram Training Centre for the Teachers (V.I), D.Ed & B.Ed Spl. Education was invited to speak on Low Vision Aids & Mr. Muralidhar Attal, OM TAO Scientific Apparatus, Kachiguda, Hyderabad was invited to demonstrate Low Vision devices.

The In-House speakers Dr. Manmath Kumar Das, Retina Consultant, KIMS; Dr. Saswati Sen, Glaucoma Consultant, KIMS; Mr. Mantu Mallick, Senior Optometrist & MS. Kalyanamayee Bindhani Optometrist at KIMS also gave insightful talks on use of Low Vision Aid in Chronic diseases.

The event was attended by 200 delegates. The highlight of the event was the hands-on experience that the delegates got in using Low Vision Aids. Brig.Prof. (Dr.) Ambika Prasad Mohanty, Principal KIMS & Mr. Dilip Kumar Panda, Group Director Administration, graced the occasion with their presence & appreciated this new initiative taken by the department of Ophthalmology.
