KIMS Faculty Attends 1st POSI Mid-year Meeting 2022

The quality of health care is improving day by day. With the advancement of technology and sub specialty practice, the quality of care improved significantly to satisfy the expectation of patients. One such area is paediatric-orthopaedic which is very much focused in providing quality care to orthopaedic problems of paediatric population.

Recently Paediatric-orthopaedic Society of India joined hands with paediatric society, radiology society of India and various other governing bodies and conducted 1st POSI Midyear Meeting in Mumbai from 16th to 17thJuly 2022.  Dr. Bibhudutta Sahoo, Asst. Professor Paediatric-Orthopaedic of KIMS who is also the executive member of Paediatric-Orthopaedic society of India for east zone attended the meeting as a faculty. He met professor Keenan Josseph, the pioneer of universal hip screening for children along with other national and international faculties.

In Paediatrics-Orthopaedics, there are 2 major situations like developmental dysplasia of hip and hip dislocation in cerebral palsy children. These scenarios make the child walk with difficulties, sometimes painful and finally make them handicapped. To avoid such future disabilities and major surgical intervention neonatal and childhood hip screening is important.

This meeting came into an agreement to formulate guidelines for early hip screening to avoid a painful cascade of future. This meeting created a pathway to start the implementation of guidelines in the community. It is comparatively easy to start with such new ideas in KIMS what Dr. Sahoo is expecting.
