Every year, KIIT Deemed to be University organizes Pratijja, the annual international parliamentary debate, which attracts prodigious debating talent from across the globe. Continuing the trend, Pratijja v17, held from 3rd to 5th June 2022, was a confluence of talent from 27 institutes and universities of India and abroad as well as other independent teams across several nations deliberating and contesting for the win.

Spanning over three days, Pratijja saw the participation of 35 teams and consisted of five preliminary rounds, each with a different central topic on which motions were framed. The topics themselves were extremely versatile, ranging from Law to Gaming, Beliefs and Politics, which in turn made the debates even more engaging. This year, the event was conducted in the online mode in lieu of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

After two days of incessant debate, 8 teams out of 40 made it to the Quarterfinals. Here again, the audience witnessed neck-and-neck finishes leading to disappointment as well as expressive gaiety. The event came to a conclusion with the final round where Hansraj College, Delhi was up against the non-institutional team “Current Status Quo”. With both teams fighting it out till the very end, team Status Quo ended up taking the victory title by a very slim margin.

Dr. Shyam Sundar Behura Dy. Director, SS congratulated the Organizing Committee, the ‘Kreative Eye’, and staff of KSAC for the grand success of the event.
