National CME on Vasculitis Organized by Department of Dermatology, KIMS

A national-level CME (Continuing Medical Education) programme on Vasculitis was organized recently by the Department of Dermatology,  Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS). The event was graced by Padmashree Prof. Dr. Subrat Acharya, Pro-Chancellor; Prof. Dr. CBK Mohanty, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, School of Medicine; Major General (Prof.) Dr. PK Patnaik (VSM), Director General School of Medicine; Brig Prof Dr. Ambika Prasad Mohanty, Principal; AVM Prof Dr. RC Das, Medical Superintendent; Prof. Dr. Hemanta Kumar Kar, HoD Dermatology & Organizing Chairperson of the CME; and Dr. Mitanjali Sethy, Organizing Secretary. Around 100 delegates from different medical colleges in Odisha attended including faculties and residents of KIMS.

Renowned Rheumatologist and well-known researcher on Vasculitis, Professor Dr. Rohini Handa from Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi spoke on “Systemic Vasculitis: An Update”. Dr. Handa has been the former Quonden Professor at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. Professor Dr. Srinivas CR, Department of Dermatology of KIMS delivered a talk on “Cutaneous Vasculitis”, while Professor Dr. Aparna Palit, HoD, Dept. of Dermatology of AIIMS Kalyani, West Bengal spoke on the topic “Approach to a Case of Cutaneous Vasculitis.”

Prof. Dr. Manjunath Shenoy, HoD of Dermatology, Yenepoya Medical College, Mangalore, Karnataka moderated the panel discussion with distinguished speakers – Prof. Dr. Prasenjeet Mohanty, HoD of Dermatology in SCB Medical College Cuttack; Prof. Dr. Bikas Ranjan Kar HoD of Department of Dermatology, IMS and SUM Hospital Bhubaneswar; Dr. Nikunja Rout HoD of Department of Nephrology at KIMS; and Dr. Sakir Ahmed, Associate Professor, Department of Rheumatology KIMS.

The National CME was aimed to help the experts from the Department of Dermatology and different departments of medical science for a better understanding of Vasculitis, its progression, and cure. This CME was a part of the silver jubilee celebration of KIIT Deemed to be University. The subject was chosen appropriately for the benefit of faculties and residents of all medical and surgical branches of medical sciences. The vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Dr. Hemanta Kumar Kar. The CME was highly appreciated by all the delegates.
