NSS Wing of KIIT School of Computer Applications Celebrates Holy Makar Sankranti with Surya Namaskar

KIIT School of Computer Applications observed the festival of Makar Sankranti on 14th January 2022 with a mass virtual Surya Namaskar. It was suggested by the Ministry of AYUSH to celebrate Makar Sankranti with great devotion towards Sun God. The objective of performing Surya Namaskar is to maintain the rich culture and heritage of India. It gave a message to the society as well as to the coming generation regarding ancient philosophy of India.

The celebration was graced by Dr. Veena Goswami, Director of KIIT School of Computer Applications. Prof. S.S Patra, Prof. U.C. De and all staff, NSS Volunteers of KSCA   participated at the event. Professor Prachi Vijayeeta addressed the gathering with a brief introduction to the topic.

Arghya Mitra- NSS student volunteer of MCA-1st Semester took the lead role by performing all the 12 asanas of Surya Namaskar. He briefly described the scientific, biological and health benefits of each of the postures. Prof. U.C De threw light on the benefits of asanas.  Professor Manas Mukul of KIIT School of Computer Applications, handled the technical  and the social media aspect of this valuable event. The event was highly motivational and inspired the participants to be fit and healthy during this tough pandemic time. The event wrapped up with a vote of thanks by Prof. Prachi Vijayeeta.
