KIDS Organizes National Symposium

Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences (KIDS) in association with IDA Temple City Bhubaneswar Branch organized KIDS Webcon 2021, OMFS Chapter, an exclusive virtual National Symposium, on 13th & 14th December 2021.

It is a well known fact that the patient’s self-esteem is related to appearance and as appearance improves, so do the positive self perception and personal achievements. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon maintains and rejuvenates youthful appearance in both surgical and non-surgical fields. Keeping this perspective in mind, the theme of the conference was “Demystifying Maxillofacial Surgery… Learn, Unlearn and Relearn”, focusing on advancements in Maxillofacial trauma, diagnosis and management of Oral cancer, Insights in Orthognathic Surgery, etc.

Dr. Jugajyoti Pathi, Asst Director (Admin), KIDS; Dr. Aswini Kumar Kar, Principal, KIDS; Dr. Rajat Mohanty and Dr. Dhirendra Kumar Singh graced the inaugural session of the symposium. The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Srikar M.V.

The event had eight eminent speakers of the subject from both India & abroad: Dr. Deepak Vinodh, Dr. Akhilesh Singh, Dr. Maria Menini, Dr. Paolo Pera, Dr. Paolo Pesce, Dr. Francesco Pera, Dr. John Nesan, Dr. Suryahant Mihiran, Dr. Abhilasha Yadav. The sessions were moderated by Dr. Harsh Pathak, Dr. Swarnav Patnaik, Dr. Aswini Kumar Kar, Dr. Kiran Boyina, Dr. Choubarga Naik, and Dr. Radheshaym Chaurasia.

The conference included student and faculty e-posters and paper presentations. For the scientific session best paper and best poster were awarded. The best faculty paper was awarded to Dr. Geentanjali Arora and the best faculty poster was awarded to Dr. Sathish Radhakrishna. The best student poster was awarded to Dr. Tankala Prerana and the best student paper was awarded to Dr. Amrit Pal Singh. The vote of thanks was proposed by Organizing Secretary Dr. Rajat Mohanty.
