KIIT School of Applied Sciences Organizes First Water Technology Research Lecture

200

School of Applied Sciences, KIIT-DU organized the first Water Technology Research Lecture by Prof. Ajay Kumar Mishra, Department of Chemistry, School of Applied Sciences, KIIT-DU on 19th August, 2021 on virtual platform. Prof. Mishra is also working as Visiting Professor at Robert Gordon University, UK; Bashkir State University, Russia; Adjunct Professor at Jiangsu University, China and Director at Academy of Nanotechnology and Waste Water Innovations, South Africa. The title of the lecture was “Nanocomposite materials for waste water remediations”.

In his lecture, Prof. Mishra discussed the worldwide problem of water pollution and its consequences. He focused on the role of nanotechnology for addressing the issue. He introduced nanotechnology, nanocomposites and the process of adsorption interestingly and then explained how such systems can be effectively used for waste water treatment. He also explained the role of ceramic nanocomposites as photocatalysts. He alongwith his research group had developed a prototype for organic waste remediation. He also stressed on converting waste into nanomaterials with academia and industry collaboration.

After the talk, there was an interactive session in which several faculties took part. The session was well coordinated by Dr. Bhavya Bhushan, Asst. Prof., Department of Physics, SAS. The talk was attended by both students and Professors from diverse areas.
