The occasion of Raksha Bandhan holds a lot of significance to Indians. Traditionally, this day is celebrated to treasure the irreplaceable bond that exists between brothers and sisters. But when the British decided to partition the territory of Bengal in 1905, the Indian leaders protested against this ominous act by tying Rakhi, a sacred colorful thread, onto the wrists of fellow Indians. It has been since then that the occasion of Raksha Bandhan is celebrated to highlight the feeling of oneness by breaching the boundaries of caste, creed and religion.

And how could Kalliope let this special day slip away without framing a grand memorabilia?

In the 7th episode of “Koffee with Kalliope”, Team Kalliope, the Anchoring Society of KIIT, invited RJ Somak Ghosh. Almost every Bengali household shares a special attachment with Radio Mirchi and, to tag along, RJ Somak is the name that holds equal gravity. It has been through this iconic gentleman that the youth of Bengal today have realigned to the radio shows despite being surrounded by more advanced gifts of technology. Along with his contemporary, RJ Agni, he creates YouTube vines which are a rich blend of entertainment, social message and a certain degree of nostalgia.

In this hour long talk show, Mr. Somak shared invaluable life lessons well garnered with humour . Only passion cannot create quality individuals but culturing that passion into an exclusive skill set can definitely make the change, he said.

Dr. Shyam Sundar Behura, Dy. Director expressed his sincere gratitude to RJ Somak Ghosh for accepting the invitation and being a part of the show. Additionally, he also extended congratulations to Nivedita Basu and Ritik Jha for marvelously hosting the guests and regulating the course of the event.
