Virtual Workshop on “Advanced Characterization Techniques” Inaugurated at School of Applied Sciences
School of Applied Sciences, KIIT Deemed to be University is organizing a four-week (16th August – 8th September 2021) virtual workshop on “Advanced Characterization Techniques” for Masters and PhD students. The workshop was inaugurated on 17th August 2021. Prof. P. Pattojoshi, Dean, SAS, KIIT welcomed the participants and the invited speakers and highlighted the uniqueness of the program, being first of its kind in providing training to students in the early phase of their career. In his address at the inaugural event, Prof. J. R. Mohanty, Registrar, KIIT-DU emphasized the utility of this type of workshop-cum-course and the efforts of KIIT in organizing such events. He also encouraged the organizers for arranging more such activities in the Central Research Facility.
The program is designed to facilitate early exposure of basic and advanced knowledge on various characterization processes such as electron microscopy, X-Ray diffraction and NMR spectroscopy through invited lectures, and live demonstrations (virtual) by experts from academia and industry. The registration call for this workshop received overwhelming response with 340 participants including 200 from other institutions.
The workshop has speakers from academia (Dr. Ashutosh Rath, CSIR-IMMT, Dr. J. N. Behera, NISER, Dr. Arindam Ghosh, NISER) & industry (Mr. Daniel Aloysius, Application Specialist-Electron microscopy, Zeiss India; Dr. I. Ravikumar, XRD-Bruker India, Mr. S. L. Poojary, Application Specialist-NMR, Jeol India), in addition to internal experts, Dr. G. K. Pradhan, Dr. P. K. Deheri and Dr. Samaresh Jana, for the entire training program.
