KIIT School of Film Media Sciences: 3rd KIIT Global Photography Festival Concludes

The three-day 3rd KIIT Global Photography Festival (KGPF) organized by KIIT School of Film & Media Sciences (KSFMS) concluded with the declaration of award winners in different categories of Photography competition.

The day started with a tribute to the Indian photojournalist, who won the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography in 2018, Danish Siddiqui who was killed in Afghanistan while covering clashes between Afghan troops and the Taliban last month at the age of 38. A video was presented in the memory of the young and dynamic photojournalist.

In the webinar series, two alumni of KSFMS were invited as the guest speakers to deliver their talks. Tshering Namgyel from Bhutan shared his experience in the Bhutanese film industry. Kinley R. Dorji, a young Bhutanese actor, singer and composer, who had garnered several awards for his acting also joined the session and interactively shared his journey of acting in the Bhutanese film industry. Bishwajeet Pattnaik, another alumnus of film school, who currently works in Bollywood shared his filmmaking experience and his perspective of seeing films and composing photographs through his interaction on the topic, “Life around a Still and a Camera.” The event was anchored by Puru Priyam of KSFMS.

Both the alumni appreciated and thanked KSFMS for letting them develop the practical expertise with professional sense towards filmmaking. They also took questions from the participants. 

The National award-winning filmmaker and CEO, SFMS, SFT & SMC Prof. Himansu S. Khatua, announced the winners of DSLR category, Mobile category, the Jury Awards in both the categories and People’s Choice award of the KGPF Photography Competition that had received the entries from five nations with the theme “A New World, A New Perspective”. Eminent filmmaker, Mr. Jugal Debata, Chairman, Jury committee explained the logic behind the photographs that won the awards.

The whole team of KGPF were delighted to have welcomed all the participants, giving them a precious opportunity to learn a lot about the world of not only photography, but also filmmaking. The winners will be rewarded with cash prizes and certificates of achievement.

The Festival Director, Prof. Himansu S. Khatua thanked and appreciated the meticulous planning and hard efforts of the festival convener and festival Coordinators Mr Susanta Bahinipati, Mr Ajaya Kumar Mishra, Mr Ganeswara Mohapatra, all staffs of Film School including Mr. R. K. Baral, AO, Mr. C M Sahoo, PS to CEO and, above all, the student coordinators and volunteers in making the 3rd KIIT Global Photography Festival a grand success. The 3rd KGPF concluded with the expectation of welcoming the participants in the 4th KGPF next year.
