As an expression of its deep passion for photography, KIIT School of Film and Media Sciences (KSFMS) is organizing a three-day ‘KIIT Global Photography Festival’ (KGPF) from 19th – 21st August 2020 on the occasion of the World Photography Day (19th August). The virtual event has been conceptualized and initiated by Prof. Himanshu Sekhar Khatua, CEO, SFMS, SFT & SMC, taking inspiration from Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS.

The theme of the event is ‘Adaptation’ that justifies today’s scenario where everyone is trying to adjust to the “new normal”. Inaugurating the festival on virtual platform on August 19, Prof. Khatua explained its objectives. He expressed his gratitude to the convener, Mr. Susanta Bahinipati, Festival Coordinators – Mr. Ajaya Kumar Mishra & Mr. Ganeswara Mohapatra, Mr. Rajanikanta Baral, AO, Audio Visual Cell and the Student Coordinators.

Keynote speaker and veteran filmmaker, Mr. Jugal Debata spoke on the topic ‘Photography: an Evolving Medium’. The talk provided a direct insight and a great exposure to the budding photographers to kick-start their journey into the world of cameras.

The Festival unfolds in two phases – competitive section and educational section. A photography competition on the topic, ‘Life during the pandemic’ was announced for the competitive section. It attracted a large number of registrations from all around the country. The results of the competition will be announced during the festival. For the educational section, a series of webinars are planned for three-days. KSFMS is bringing handpicked experts from all around the globe who will deliver talks on amalgamation of Photography and Adaptation.
