KIIT Alumni Webinar Series: Talk on ‘Preparing for Post-Covid Job Market’ by Mr. Varinder Singh
The second edition of KIIT Alumni Webinar Series, titled ‘Preparing for Post COVID Job Market’, was hosted by Alumni Relations Cell on 16th August, 2020. The Resource person for the Live Webinar was Mr. Varinder Singh, KIIT Alumnus (B-Tech 2007-2011 Batch, School of Mechanical Engineering). He is also an alumnus of IIM, Ahmedabad.
Briefing about the current market status, he said that various industries such as IT, Edtech, Banking & Financing sustained well during the pandemic. Money is required for buying utilities, but it cannot be the only source of our happiness, he stressed. He told the students about the importance of employability and ended with tips on how to be prepared for the post-Covid world. There was an extensive Q & A round with students, alumni and faculties.
Mr. Varinder Singh is a result-oriented professional having experience of more than nine years in HR and Administration. He is currently working as Chief Manager – HR at Fortum, which is one of the largest power utilities of Europe. Prior to this, he was working with Tata Power. He specializes in establishing and maintaining strong alliances, leading and motivating teams, driving projects to successful completion and exceeding customer expectations.
Dr. Shyam Sundar Behura, Dy. Director Student Services, KIIT-DU moderated the webinar. The closing remarks were given by Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar. The webinar was also attended by all Directors of SOT, Dr. Samaresh Mishra, Dr Ashok Kumar Sahoo, Dr. Benu Gopal Mohapatra, Dr. Arun Kumar Ray and Dr. Chinmoy Kumar Panigrahi.
