4th Kalinga Global Film Festival (KGFF) begins at KIIT

KIIT School of Film and Media Sciences organizes the 4th edition of Kalinga Global Film Festival (KGFF) at KIIT Deemed to be University from January 18 to 22, 2020.

The inauguration ceremony on 18th of January was graced by Mr. Bijay Kumar Nayak, Director, Department of Culture Govt. of Odisha; Mr. Tusharkanti Behera, Hon’ble Minister, Electronics & Information Technology, Sports & Youth Service; Mr. Anubhav Mohanty, Hon’ble MP; Mr. Satyabrata Tripathy, Chairman Odisha Film Development Corporation; and Prof. Pankaj Saxena, Professor of Screen Studies and Research FTII, Pune.

The objective of this film festival is to encourage and ignite young minds, enrich intellectually inclined cineastes and promote aspiring filmmakers. KGFF intends to organize a festival that would connect regular movie goers, budding filmmakers and the movie buffs with the distinguished filmmakers so as to bring about greater understanding of the art and craft of filmmaking.

KGFF are presenting a selection of feature films, short films and documentaries from all over Asia and screening of more than 15 films in Asian Window section. The selection of competitive students’ short films has been made out of 50 films submitted. Delegates and critics from the country and abroad are participating.

There will be three panel discussions on these topics like Film Society Movement, Film Appreciation and Critical Analysis, and Film Education.

All the awards will be presented at the closing ceremony of the festival and all films screened under competitive category as official selection process are only eligible for completion. All the winners will get a KGFF trophy, a Cash Prize and certificate of excellence as award.
