Curtains Brought Down On The 11th Edition Of KIIT Premier League

The 11th Edition of KIIT Premier League(KPL) came to an end on 28th February, 2018 at KIIT Cricket Stadium. JNTU Hyderabad became the winner by defeating the JNTU Kakinada by 9 wickets in the final match. On the other hand, Al-Falah University defeated PGDAV New Delhi by 40 Runs to be contented with the 3rd place.

While, the Champion Team got 2 lakhs rupees along with the trophy, the Runners-up Team got 1 lakh rupees as prize money. Rahul Budhy of JNTU Hyderabad became the Man of the Final Match and M. Pratyush Kumar of the same JNTU Hyderabad got the coveted Man of the Tournament award. The award for Best Batsman of the Tournament went to MS Prajnya Reddy of JNTU Hyderabad and the Best Bowler award was won by Deepak Sharma of Al-Falah University. While, M. Pranith of JNTU Kakinada was the Best Wicketkeeper, the Best Fielder award was won by Anurag Prusty of KIIT Deemed University.

Addressing the audience, The Founder of KIIT & KISS Prof. Achyuta Samanta, said that KIIT has always been promoting sports in tandem with education. “From the next year onwards, the prize money of KPL will be doubled,” declared The Founder much to the delight of the players present on the occasion.

Among the Guests, Sri Anubhav Mohanty, Ollywood Actor and Rajyasabha MP; Dr. T. Harinath Reddy, Secretary of Hyderabad based TKR Group of Institutions and Dr. Gaganendu Dash, Director of Sports, KIIT were present on the valedictory ceremony. On the eve of the valedictory ceremony, an exhibition match was played among the Ollywood actors.

Later an extraordinary Sports Complex was inaugurated exclusively for the utility of girl students at KIIT Premises by Prof. Achyuta Samanta in presence of Prof. Hrushikesha Mohanty, VC and Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Registrar of KIIT Deemed University. It has all facilities including Swimming Pool, Health Club, Indoor games like Badminton, Billiards, Chess, Table Tennis, Carom and outdoor sports like Basketball, Volleyball, Throwball and Jogging.
