Focus on 7 vital recipes to achieve excellence: Subrato Bagchi

KIIT Polytechnic is celebrating its 25th Foundation Day today amid gaiety and grandeur. Inaugurating this special  occasion at the Auditorium, KIIT Campus-6, on 20th August, 2019 Shri Subrato Bagchi, Hon’ble Chairman, Odisha Skill Development Authority, BBSR emphasized to focus on 7 vital recipes i.e. Domain, Tools, Methodology, Quality, Innovation, Branding and Governance in order to achieve institutional excellence.

Shri Bagchi elaborated that first of all, we should focus on a given ‘Domain’.  One should not leave his domain whatever challenging it may be. Actually, we will get precedence when we focus on a particular domain he remarked. Citing the case of Dr. Achyuta Samanta, he said that Dr. Samanta has never left his domain, i.e. education and culture which leaded to social transformation in course of time.

Secondly he advised to focus on the ‘Tools’. One’s uniqueness is determined by the use of his tool and tools give us identity. Thirdly it is methodology, i.e. how to do, what we want to do. Then he mentioned ‘Quality’ on which we should focus persistently.

He also stressed upon ‘Innovation’, on which we should always contemplate, devise plan and execute what is different and new. That’s why we have to remain vigilant on Innovation. Then ‘Branding’ on which greater innovations are built. Actually it is brand that basically shows the internal value of an organization to the outside world.

The last thing is Governance on which we should emphasize a lot. The Institution will collapse if there is not adequate importance given to governance. The seven things should be followed like the seven horses those pull the chariots in same direction, same time and same speed. Otherwise the chariot would be broken. KIIT has adopted, practiced and executed in letter & spirit these seven things and consequently it has become the institution of excellence, Shri Bagchi remarked.

“As far as KIIT Polytechnic is concerned, we have to contemplate up to what extent KIIT Polytechnic will reach in the coming 50 years.  KIIT Polytechnic can elevate its level at par with world’ best if it practices these 7 recipes for which it should be totally committed and determined”, added Shri Bagchi

Gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest, Shri Ragunandan Das, Hon’ble Minister of State (Ind.) for Water Resources, Information and Public Relations (I &PR), Govt. of Odisha said that by dint of immense contribution and sacrifice of a team dedicated personnel during the nascent period of the institute, we are a witnessing today the magnificent organization in form of KIIT that has become an Institute of Eminence. We should extol and evoke the glorious sacrifices made by the committed workers in past. The state and nation expects much more from you (students) on which you should ponder and act accordingly.

At the outset, placing the Welcome Address Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT and KISS said that one should not forget his past. Even if anybody ever extends a little help, still then it should not be forgotten. What pain, adversities and struggle we have faced and what the extent of help and support rendered by our friends in past, carries priceless relevance and significance. In fact, the gigantic KIIT is standing today on the foundation of KIIT Polytechnic and ITI. We have strengthened the KIIT ITI and KIIT- Polytechnic in such a way that KIIT has achieved the status of Institute of Eminence.

Proposing the Vote of Thanks, Sri R.N. Das, Secretary, KIIT & KISS remarked on the cardinal principles of real success, i.e. don’t forget your past.

Among others, Dr. Pradeep Ranjan Tripathy, Principal, KIIT Polytechnic, many senior functionaries and distinguished dignitaries were present in the packed auditorium comprising of students, faculties and staff of the school. As many as 17 veteran staff members were felicitated, who have been working since the inception of KIIT Polytechnic till today.
