KIIT & KISS Observe Swachh Bharat Mission Clean Campus and Surroundings with Enthusiasm

In order to propagate and instigate the message of cleanliness among the people living in the surrounding areas, students and staff members of KIIT Group of Institutions and KISS observe Swachh Bharat Mission amid a lot of enthusiasm today on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti.

Before commencing the cleansing activities on part of “Swachh Bharat Mission“, a noble initiative propounded by the Prime Minister of India Sri Narendra Modi, students and staff members of the KIIT Group of Institutions got assembled at Exhibition Ground, KIIT Convention Centre at early in the morning.

Addressing the gathering, the Vice Chancellor of KIIT Deemed University, Prof. Hrushikesh Mohanty said, “Swachhata Hi Sabhyata”(Cleanliness is Civilization). On this auspicious day, we should take oath to keep our campus and surroundings clean and green to offer befitting tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on the eve of his 150th Birth Anniversary Year.”

Placing the welcome address, Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Registrar, KIIT Deemed University said, “KIIT has often been emphasizing such cleansing drive for years by virtue of our enthusiastic students and committed staff members. As we are celebrating the 150th Birth Anniversary Year of Mahatma Gandhi, we should be more committed to accomplish this mission in a meticulous manner. “

On this occasion, the most preferred Bhajan of Gandhiji, “Vaishnava Jana To———-“, was recited by KIIT students in 12 Indian languages superbly which was obviously the highlight of the morning. In fact, this Bhajan is one of the most popular Hindi Bhajans written in the 15th century by the poet Narsinh Mehta in the Gujarati Language. The Bhajan was included in Gandhij’s daily prayer.

Later all the students and staff members involved themselves in the cleansing activities organized in and around their respective campuses and surrounding areas. Remarkably, the students of KISS cleaned the nearby Shikhar Chandi Hill temple environs to make Gandhiji’s dream of ‘Swachh Bharat’ a reality.
