Pradyumna Bal Memorial Lecture was organized on the eve of 86th Birth Anniversary of Pradyumna Bal: The Pioneer of Value Based Journalism and Crusader of Social Justice at  KIIT Auditorium, Campus -6 on 8th November, 2018.

Gracing the occasion as Chief Guest, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, Sri Naveen Patnaik  said “Pradyumna Babu was an epitome of ethical politics and journalism based on strong foundations of true democratic values. He was an excellent organizer and was associated with several literary and cultural organizations. His contribution to Journalism and Education will always be remembered with reverence.”

“Pradyumna Babu was the founder Editor of Pragativadi and President of KIIT. Two great institutions – one is here to add strength to the voice of people and the other is here to educate and empower youth. That speaks volume about his visionary leadership,” he added.

In our journey to build a better Odisha, a healthy society, apart from the Government, there are numerous individuals who silently contribute to nation building. They don’t aspire for name, fame or money. They do it, because they honestly want their brothers and sisters live a better life. They are the true heroes of our society and the real change agents,” the CM elaborated.

The memorial event was also graced by noted economist Omkar Goswami, well known educationist Omkarnath Mohanty, Editor in Chief of ESPN Cricinfo Sambit Bal, President of KIIT & KISS Smt. Saswati Bal and Mrs. Bratati Bal.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister conferred the Pradyumna Bal Memorial Award to the ‘Water Man’ of Odisha, Daitari Naik, a septuagenarian who single-handedly carved out a three- kilometer long canal from the Gonasika mountains in Keonjhar district to the arid land in the downstream to ensure flow of water for cultivation. The CM also handed over a cheque of Rs 1 lakh to Naik issued by Pradyumna Bal Memorial trust.
